- Folic acid is involved in the synthesis of nucleic acids, from which DNA, our genetic matrix, is produced. Thus, it regulates the growth and functioning of all cells. In combination with vitamin B12, it participates in the formation and maturation of red blood cells, hence its hematopoietic effect.
