Description
Coenzyme Q10 is a vitamin-like compound that is fat-soluble. It can be in a reduced form – then it is called ubiquinol, or in oxidized form, as ubiquinone. The compound is present in mitochondria, where energy is produced and the highest concentration of the substance can be observed in heart muscle cells.
Coenzyme Q10 can be formed naturally in the human body, but only in small amounts and its level in the body decreases with age. Therefore, it is worth considering supplying the compound to the body from outside – ubiquinone can be found in animal products, incl. meat, offal or fish, and in smaller quantities also in plant ingredients, e.g. nuts or whole grain cereal products. Coenzyme Q10 can also be supplied to the body in the form of dietary supplements, which are characterized by a high content of the compound.
The nutritional supplement does not replace a full and balanced diet
